Indonesia DJID QR Code Labeling & Packaging Rules: What Importers Must Know

Securing your DJID Certificate of Conformity is only half the battle. In Indonesia, failure to print the portal-generated QR code and mandatory warning statements on retail packaging causes immediate customs impoundment.

Executive Summary / Mandatory Labeling Elements

  • On Product Chassis: Must display the Type Approval Certificate Number and PLG ID (Customer Registration Number).
  • On Retail Packaging: Must display the official DJID QR Code, warning sign, and Bahasa Indonesia compliance statement.
  • QR Code Generation: Directly retrieved from the DJID online portal once the certificate is granted.
  • Customs Enforcement: Indonesian Directorate General of Customs and Excise inspects physical packaging at ports of entry.

Under regulations enforced by the Directorate General of Digital Infrastructure (DJID, formerly SDPPI), every certified telecommunications and radio device sold in Indonesia must carry clear, indelible proof of conformity. The Indonesian government established these rules to curb unauthorized grey-market hardware imports and ensure consumer awareness.

Packaging compliance and QR code labeling for DJID Indonesia

The Three Core Labeling Requirements

Every imported wireless product must adhere to three specific marking requirements:

  1. Certificate Number & PLG ID: Formatted as [Certificate Number]/DJID/[Year] [PLG ID]. For small form-factor devices (such as wireless earbuds or compact sensors) where physical space is limited, this marking may be placed in the user manual or on the packaging.
  2. Official QR Code: The DJID system generates a unique QR code linked directly to the product's official public certificate record on postel.go.id. This QR code must be printed clearly on the outer packaging box.
  3. Warning Statement: The packaging or user documentation must include the mandatory Bahasa Indonesia warning text stating that unauthorized frequency modification or interference is punishable by law.

E-Labeling Provisions

For devices with built-in electronic displays (smartphones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches), DJID permits the certificate information and QR code to be implemented via an on-screen electronic label (e-label). However, the outer retail box must still display the physical QR code and warning markings for physical customs inspections.
