Thailand NBTC Mandates Safety Reports for All Bluetooth & RF Devices

Effective February 1, 2026, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand has implemented a major update to its Type Approval process. All Bluetooth and other radio frequency (RF) devices operating in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands must now include formal electrical safety test reports as part of their compliance submission.

Stricter Safety Standards for Wireless Tech

Previously, many Short Range Devices (SRDs) could be registered with minimal safety documentation. Under the new mandate, the NBTC requires an official safety test report (typically following the IEC 62368-1 or the equivalent Thai TIS 1561-2013 standard) to be included with the Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC).

Key Requirements:

  • Safety Compliance: All RF equipment must be tested for electrical safety by an accredited laboratory.
  • Updated SDoC: The SDoC filing must explicitly reference the safety report number and testing standard used.
  • Market Coverage: This affects consumer electronics, IoT hardware, and industrial wireless equipment alike.

HertzWeg Insight:

"The NBTC is aligning Thai regulations with international safety benchmarks. If you're planning a product launch in Thailand, ensure your technical construction file (TCF) includes a recent IEC 62368-1 report from an accredited lab to prevent certification bottlenecks."

Navigating the NBTC's shifting landscape is easier with HertzWeg. We ensure all your technical files meet the latest Thai standards for a swift and successful market entry.
